About

Satoshi Nakamoto is the presumed pseudonymous person or group who developed Bitcoin, authored its white paper, and implemented its original software. Nakamoto was active in the development of Bitcoin until December 2010. Their true identity remains unknown. Although Nakamoto used a Japanese name and claimed residence in Japan, many speculate that they may be a British software and cryptography expert who worked on Bitcoin in the United Kingdom. If an individual, Nakamoto’s holdings of approximately 1.1 million bitcoins would make them one of the wealthiest people in the world. At the July 14, 2025 price of $123,000 per bitcoin, these holdings were valued at nearly $135 billion.
